Lunch Break celebrates Thanksgiving either a day early... or a day late depending on your perception of the space-time continuum. One of the show's favorite guests Conner returns to talk with Kathleen and AJ about stuffing vs. dressing, Black Friday shopping and the best holiday leftovers.
Hosts AJ and Kathleen take the show to the Alpharetta Chamber of Commerce’s Coffee and Commerce event to interview Louis Soon. Louis is the owner of South Main Kitchen and Butcher & Brew in downtown Alpharetta, and will soon be opening a third restaurant across the street. We talk about his “secret sauce” to creating successful restaurants, what he enjoys about creating new places and his future plans.
Appen Media Group interns Jillian and Nik join Kathleen and AJ to discuss gnocchi and figure out what it is. In true Lunch Break fashion the conversation splinters into social media, ASMR (weird whispering videos) and family trees.
October is here which means you need to brace yourselves as pumpkin spice everything returns. Kathleen recounts her love for the fall flavor while also explaining the history on how it became so popular. Julia returns to the show to talk about the Autumnal treats. AJ is the game master as Kathleen and Julia go head-to-head on pumpkin trivia.
Something smells fishy... or should we say aspargaussy. Conner Evans returns to the show for the third week in a row to get to the bottom of why your pee smells after eating asparagus. The crew also practices their John Travolta impressions, discuss Conner's resemblance to an early Justin Bieber and test their food trivia knowledge during Food Fight.
Did Abe Lincoln really invent Valentine's Day? How many Diet Cokes a day does Donald Trump consume? Conner Evans returns to the show to discuss the diets of various presidents of the USA including Washington, Lincoln, Taft, Obama and Trump. The group takes a not so serious look at their most and least favorite foods, eating habits and more.
Camping when you're an adult can be a lot better than camping when you're a kid if you bring enough beer and are with seasoned pros. AJ and Kimber dip their toes into sleeping outdoors with help from their friends Mitch and Nicole. They eat chili, toot a fair amount from said chili and then drink wine from Southern Illinois. And don't worry, there are no bear sightings during this trip.
Kimber and AJ check off two haunts from their list of must-visit spots in STL. They recount their afternoon with stops at The Baked Bear for an ice cream-cookiewich and follow it up with Bemiston Cocktail Club for a Manhattan, Old Milwaukee and a shot of whiskey.
Appen Media's summer intern Conner Evans joins AJ and Kathleen for the first time ever on podcast. The group discusses two popular food myths including if coffee stunts your growth and negative health effects of soy. Conner also talks about his love for the band Wilco, his college radio show and playing for the Qudditch team at the University of Richmond.
